Okay, so I got the urge to have a bash myself’ after seeing various posts of people modding their Squier bullet mustangs, and other short scale types? So put the feelers out for a donor type guitar? or Parts?? And ended up getting a cracking deal off of
@DrCornelius Which was his sons ( Sonic Grey ) bullet mustang.
Great guitar out of the box, but as I say, I wanted one to tinker with…
So after pulling it to bits, first job was to flat and paint. I ended up going for Mars Red, which is a Ford body colour, and finished with an amber tint nitro lacquer. Neck the same, flat and a couple of coats of amber nitro, also darkened and oiled board.
I also shamelessly stole @WezV idea of replicating an old school water slide decal, after reading his bullet mod thread - sorry @WezV - hope you don’t mind? but you shouldn’t be so damn clever!
I had the vintage style pickguard made, minus switch, as both pickups are wired to independent volumes - CTS 500k ( jazz bass style ) Great blend of tones mixing both together or either separately… The neck pickup is an Alegree ‘old timer’ fat boy - and the bridge’ an old SD hot rails I’ve had kicking about for ages… I may yet change that for something a bit more retro looking???
