Going Headless

What's Hot
Just in case the madness sets in, is it possible to convert a 'conventional' guitar to headless? I'm very taken with my Headless Eart guitar from Amazon, but I'd like something with a better bridge and body build quality. If I were to find some superstrat with locking trem, is it possible / wise / easy peasy to remove the headstock, remove the chunk of body behind the bridge, and replace the trem with a Hipshot or similar bridge, and screw in the string lock up top?
I'm thinking https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184958946761?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&var=692744034507&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
and a strandberg style shape which I know works for me. Obviously this would be better if I could find a superstrat I liked with a body wheel truss rod adjuster, but what else should I be wary of??
Thanks in advance

It’s a big project fitting headless tuners because you’ll need to refinish the body after you’ve reshaped it. It’s easier to make a new body, or buy a body blank and finish it from scratch.

These three were all made using sawn off necks, but the bodies were scratch built.

Thanks Roland. As I like the Ibanez style neck I’ll need to do some more research into bodies that will take them. My thought was that the guitar will be more stable with a well fitted neck pocket so I didn’t fancy making from a blank. Much easier (I thought) to mod an existing body.

Love the eye figure on the Klein inspired though!!

I tried an EART headless but what passes for the 'machine heads' ratio was so ridiculous the guitar was almost untunable - and certainly wasn't without the doo-hickey extension which must rank alongside favourite plectrums as the most 'loseable' items. Mine went back for a full refund though it ranks as the most comfortable guitar to noodle on the settee. It also had the most beautifully finished fretboard ever.

Agree on the neck. For general tuning I gave up and assumed I would lose the hex key, and it’s been fine ever since. For string changes I use an electric screwdriver with a hex bit. You’re right though, the ratio is way too big /long / fast / suitable word here.
