  • I'm actually in the midst  of considering purchasing one myself.  Not sure I can justify the price jump between the 11R and an Axe FX.

I know @digitalscream has used one quite extensively.

They're brilliant - with a good power amp, they sound excellent (I found a Marshall 20/20 works much better than a Peavey 60/60, for example). There's only one problem...

...the gap between patches. In a really noisy non-PA mix, you can get away with it. Playing somewhere with a good PA and everything running through it, it's pretty much completely unusable. Mine's studio-only for that reason.

Can you explain what you mean by gap? As in time delay?

Is that a pause before switching patches  ?

Yes - a gap of silence as soon as you hit the MIDI footswitch to change the patch. It's not huge, but it's enough that if you go for a solo sound just before you hit the first note, you'll lose the attack of the note and it comes in abruptly.

Most of them do it to some extent. The boss gt100 is really good if that's your only bugbear

Yes. As did the HD500, and as does the Axe FX if you stick to using just presets.
