FS - 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom

edited December 2021 in Guitars £

I am selling my fantastic 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom. This is NOT a reissue. I have owned this guitar for about 25 years and it hurts to let this one go. If guitars could talk then this beauty would probably have a few stories to tell from its lifetime.

This is not a reissue from that period, it is a real 1974. It looks fantastic in cherry red and has a very nice bit of flame showing through. It is in exceptional condition for a 47 year old guitar. It has a pancake body with pot codes all dating to 1974.

It has been used throughout its life and there is worming on the back and a number of dings and dents here and there. There are a couple of indents on the rear of the neck and general wear and tear around the edges. You can see most of this in the photos. I only mention this for accuracy has none of these things detract from this great guitar or effect the playing. In fact they all add to the mojo of this great guitar. It has been well cared for but has not spent its life in a closet.

The hardware is worn well. The frets are as I bought it all those years ago. One point of note is the pickups are not the originals. This is a real rock machine which would grace any collection and will turn heads wherever it is played.

Have a good look at the photos and feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them.

It comes complete with its original hard case which has bits of its covering missing. Again you can see this in the photos.

I've had a few questions about the weight, just checked it on my neighbours digital scales and it's a tad over 10lbs.

Looks amazing. <3 don't recognise the machine heads, are they original?
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

Yes, they are original and called wafflebacks if I remember correctly

Yep. I too have a 74 Custom 20th Anniversary and they are indeed known as wafflebacks.
