At this time of year, my band is normally trying to think of a novelty Christmas song to play.

I’ve just been made aware that the lyrics of War Pigs by Black Sabbath fit perfect to “Deck The Halls”.  And vice versa.

Not Christmassy, but I realised a long time ago that the words to Incy Wincy Spider fit very well over Abide With Me. Makes funerals a bit easier..!

We've had summer festival crowds singing Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and it's fun to watch it dawn on people what they're joining in with when they get to the chorus. 

We have a band rule to never play it after August though.

You can sing the words to House of the Rising Sun to the tune of Amazing Grace (or vice versa).

Again, not Christmassy, but good fun to confuse people a bit

I once saw a Christian rock band sing the hymn "There Is A Green Hill Far Away" to the tune (and Animals arrangement) of House Of The Rising Sun.  This would have been in about 1965 - I'm pretty sure I was still at school, anyway.

I've often blended the start of "Stairway to Heaven" with "Everybody wants to be a cat". I feel it works well but there are some people who are definitely not fans.

I could try it around next Christmas to see if it gets a better reception
