TC Nova System - noisy as soon as it's connected to an amp WITHOUT a guitar connected?!

Hi,

I bought a Nova system from a guy a few weeks back and haven't really done much with it.  Now I'm going to do a bit more with it, I thought I'd hook it up to my main amp.  As soon as the cable goes from the amp into the Nova, I get a horrible buzz.  When I start playing, it still comes through.

Any ideas what it might be or is this normal (I can't imagine it is!)?

No idea what it is, but it's definitely not normal. Ive got one and it's pretty much silent.

I'm sure one of those clever people will be along in a minute!

Looks like it's the power in my music room. Too many inter-linked 4-ways and the Nova dislikes it intensely! Tried it downstairs direct into the wall and it's fine. Hmm.

I don't have a Nova but my rig is noisier in some rooms of my house than others when plugged in. Ground loops and shit

Haha, yes, that's it!  What can you do to resolve such issues?  Would higher quality extension cables help?
