There’s one on gumtree, unfortunately it’s in Glasgow. Looks tidy though

Probably why it’s still for sale. I remember these cropping up regularly less than 20 years ago in the big yellow free paper for ~ £400. Things have obviously changed - probably a £1k guitar now tops in my mind. But maybe the market says other wise.

They usually have horribly mismatched multi piece bodies - that put me off in the past.

True, Gibson's 'kwollity control' was pretty bad (being kind here) but they are still great guitars despite their flaws.

Yeah I bet a good one is still a nice guitar. Always taken a passing interest in them as a possible ‘78 YOB guitar but haven’t played one. Anyway. Apologies to the OP for the high jack.

I have a 1985 stripped The Paul in storage. Was originally burgundy but stripped it and never got round to refinishing it. It has a lovely grain. The Pauls are of their time but under appreciated. Served my first band very well indeed.

That would be the firebrand in 85 wouldn’t it ?
Something that may be for sale ?. Cheers

Yes, proper 'The Paul's' in walnut are from 1978-1982. If it is 1985 it is more likely to be a later 'The Paul Deluxe' (Firebrand) in mahogany, although confusingly, not all Firebrands had branded headstocks. Go Gibson

Yes it is all mahogany. No details of firebrand of it anywhere

Just to be clear, it is stripped and needs a refinish. But it is all original with original pickups as well. Chainsaw case with black interior too.

Great guitars... I miss the one that was stolen from a "mate's" flat about 30 years ago. Never saw it again - yet highly distinctive as it had DiMarzio pickups (cream PAF and Super Distortion), plus a mineral stain/stripe in the grain across the top of the pots.

    Good luck in your quest.
