I wish I was an English muffin, about to make the most out of a toaster. I'd ease myself down, coming up brown.

  • There's a very short track from Kimberly Rew (songwriter and guitarist for Katrina and the Waves) on his second solo album, "Grand Central Revisited" called "Purple and Orange Stripes". It's only about 1m20s long but is acapella with close harmonies and the whole track is quite unsettling.

The first record I was bought as a kid....

I am sure it's now culturally inappropriate somehow....

  • Pink Floyd - Bike

My late wife didn't know much Pink Floyd. And when Syd died she was captivated by his story and struggles with mental health. It really moved her. And I played her some of his music - she adored Bike - she made it her ring tone. And so now every time I hear the song it makes me think of her, and maybe I should tell her that her phone is ringing.

A funny category in some ways as some artists have specialised in the quirky. But I have always liked the ‘big name band does weird songs as album filler’ category which is something that largely died out by the mid 80s.
So, in the spirit of that…

…and this is quite a long song but the introduction always seemed quite odd to include on a major release (well, they were big for ten minutes in the USA)…
