Sold: 1996 Gibson Les Paul Standard

Fantastic 90s Les Paul up for grabs. This is in as good a condition as could be realistically be expected for its age. There’s a couple of areas where the lacquer has lifted and the bridge & a pot have been replaced but it’s otherwise original and in superb shape. The original parts are included in with the sale too. It’s right up there with the reissues I’ve owned and I’ve not played a standard produced in recent times that could even get near this. £1750.

I just wanted to chime in and say that every Gibson I’ve had from this period has the lacquer checking. I actually think it looks great! 1750 is a steal (IMO)

I am seriously doubting whether I want/need to go R9 after seeing this.  Argh!

FWIW I’ve had four LP Std reissues, 2xR8, R9 & R7 three of which Ive liked less. The other would be a tough choice. Only selling to fund a cherry 335.
