Sold: Heritage Sweet 16 Archtop (Video Added)

In my continuing pursuit to consolidate and having decided to keep my L-5 for a while longer still, my Heritage Sweet 16 is available.

Back in the early 2000s, the original founders of Heritage, Marvin Lamb and Jim Deurloo were still hand-building archtops in the Gibson tradition at Kalamazoo.

This guitar would have likely had the upgraded woods package and sold for around U$5000 when new about 20 years ago. 

Scale length is 25 1/5", a very comfortable 16" body at the lower bout. The floating pickup is the highly regarded, hand wound Heritage #3.

The guitar comes in a world travelled £500 custom fibreglass flight-case similar to a Pegassus case. As a toured and played instrument, it does have evidence of use, checking of the finish in some spots, yellowing, small long ding along the top and minor dings here and there. A couple of binding checks and lacquer checking near the bass side f-hole (not structural, has been inspected, simply lacquer checking along the grain line).

The top is a superbly hand carved, tightly grained spruce one. The back sides and neck are hand carved flamed maple. The board is ebony.

£2600 collected from Swansea - this is about £500 below what other similar instruments are fetching today without the highly figured woods. sold

I have had the pleasure of playing this very guitar a few years ago, was intending to do a trade but it didn't work out.

An old friend of mine bought one of these when they were 1st released, cant remember how much it cost him but I remember nearly falling off my perch when he told me

Lovely guitars, I will probably end up with one at some point in the future.
