Not too sure what “weird pickup settings” are but the Fishman Fluence pick-ups in the Reverend (or any Tele) certainly do the trick for me in hum cancelling, no tonal loss on volume reduction and a nice clear boost when needed. 

I’m no tech guy but if you want to have a look and a listen , probably best that Greg Koch provides the design details and sound clips on the Reverend:
