I assume I'd need to solder the nut under the lug as opposed to on top?

Where it gets more interesting is active pickups. These often have a threaded brass insert set into an otherwise plastic cover and lug.
How. about that JB Weld stuff? is. it strong enough to hold a thread?

A quick fix, I applied a mound of solder, drilled and used the screw as a makeshift tap.
Yes it isn't a permanent fix but it is plenty strong enough to hold for now.
