FS: WezV Bigsby inspired guitar. SOLD

WezV

The body is NuAge rosewood.  An FSC certified softwood that's been treated to behave like a hardwood. 

Neck is an allparts 70's strat neck with reshaped Bigsby style headstock.  Pickup is a Mojo PAB model. 

It's finished in aged nitro. The finish has sunken in nicely, actually more than I expected from this treated wood.  Its just starting to check in a few places. 

Has a really nice vintage look and feel to it whilst still being a good reliable modern guitar and the pickup is a lot more versatile than you would expect.   

Weighs just a smidge under 9lb.  Quite a long guitar so doesn't fit a standard fender hard case.

This was effectively an experiment with a new sustainable body wood, so I'm going to let it go for cheaper than one of my usual new builds.   Think last time I had it up I had dropped it to £650, so lets start there

What is that pickup all about and what’s its character?

The whole thing is a modern reinterpretation of the Original Bigsby Merle Travis guitar:


There are only about 50 documented original P.A. Bigsby guitars.  TK smith does versions at around the £10k mark

The pickups read as  low output which may put some off from the spec sheet (3.8K??) but shouldn't.  They don't sound low output at all.  Very clear, but still full sounding.  

Given the history, many demo's focus on  country or jazz guitar sound for the originals and TK Smith versions.  Loads of great clips out there of them.   I think the design is a lot more capable than that suggests

Very few for Mojo at the moment, but waterslide guitars have done a few

I should add that if the pickup is an issue for anyone, it is a simple job to make an adaptor ring the same size for any other style of pickup.

Personally I think the pickup is the main draw, but I know it may be seen as niche.
