SCAMMER WARNING: Due to a spate of recent scam attempts (some successful) recently, if you're doing a deal in the classifieds, ONLY USE PAYPAL GOODS AND SERVICES UNLESS YOU KNOW THAT INDIVIDUAL PERSONALLY. It's really not worth saving a few quid.

Got a big BDay coming up in the next year and thought I’d treat myself and whoever inherits it, to the real deal.

If you have one you’re considering selling, let me know.

Would need to get it looked over by an independent specialist and happy to pay what it is valued at.

Interested in all conditions, but must be all original parts.

IMHO think twice...I had an original 1962 Strat with full providence after losing both my parents ...ended up never playing it for fear of damaging or breaking it...it just sat in it's case. Maybe  buy one as an investment but don't make the same mistake I did.

Thanks JJ. I know this is a concern, so would prefer one that’s been played and isn’t in pristine condition. It will defo get played ether way.

If you fancy selling yours, let me know.

Guncotton guitars have an all original early ‘65 strat (L serial number) that Clement is selling on commission.

Based on Bank of England 10% inflation forecast and a 2 year low exchange rate for the £ against $, some might say transferring funds into an asset already in the UK, but where the major market is valued in dollars, could be seen as an inherently wise investment.
    That’s my current excuse anyway.

I’d want to ask some questions about that Clive Brown refin.
1: Why is the neck so pristine? Most pre-CBS Strats/Teles will have yellowed dot markers and a much darker board. This one looks like it’s hardly been played. Is there a reason for that?
2: Why is the pickguard so pristine? Fender stopped using celluloid at the start of 1965 so the fact there’s no shrinkage is not a problem. But there’s no yellowing either, which raises an eyebrow at least.
3: Why did previous owner refin it in 2000? Most refins are considerably older. By 2000 most people would have known that a refin would seriously devalue the guitar.
I’m not suggesting it’s a fake. But not all pre-CBS Fenders are great guitars. I’ve played a couple that were total dogs.

I didn't see the Clive Brown refin (the link is dead now) but just to play devil's avocado to the above points based on my own '65:

    1) '65 would have pearl dots (no yellowing) and potentially East Indian Rosewood which can be lighter
    2) It's not unusual for an ABS guard to stay bright white
    3) That's assuming it had the original finish up until that point. It might have been badly refinned or stripped in the past and this was just the latest refin, but I didn't see the ad so apologies if that was addressed.

All that said, I've been toying with the idea of letting mine go recently. I haven't quite made my mind up yet because I know I'd miss it, but I'm only really playing Gibsons these days... Feel free to DM me to chat about it.
