Quick Partscaster Question...

What's Hot
Should I fit the neck before painting?

I'm guessing that I shouldn't (trial) fit other parts like scratchplate, my thinking is the screw holes may be run points?

Any other thoughts appreciated:-)

If the guitar has a through or set neck, yes.

If the guitar has a screwed on neck, no.

Yes but, if screw holes are causing paint runs, the coat that you are applying is probably too thick.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

Trial fit the neck to make sure it physically fits…

I would test fit as much as you can before paint.

Screw holes do create a risk when wetsanding or buffing if you do it too wet, but shouldn't be a risk for runs

I was just about to add the same comment….I have never painted, then fitted  parts to any of my partscasters, I always test fit everything first, Ive never had to wet sand…..

Sorry I forgot to mention that it is a telecaster project.

So general consensus would be (if I'm reading right) basically assemble the guitar (I have trial fitted the neck already) Disassemble and paint making sure the coat aren't too heavy.

I'll be using Steve's nitro and previously used it on a set neck project. Steve's guides are excellent and I had no issue with the results, so will be reasonably confident.

Thanks for the advice guys, you've put my mind at rest:-)
