Bought used from Sound Affects in January 2022.

This guitar was previously owned by at least one member of the forum and has picked up the nickname ‘Reggie’ along the way, (more details in the thread below):

https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/221771/ngd-fender-cs-56-strat/p1

Selling due to having since picked up a ’63 CS Landau Strat which means I now have 4 strats, which seems a bit bonkers .I’ve decided to let this one go either to free up some cash or to trade against something different.

As the pictures and video hopefully demonstrate, this is a stunning guitar. I’ve had quite a few Custom Shop Strats now and this one is right up there with the best. Great neck, great sound and the relic work is one of the only very well done Heavy Relic jobs I’ve seen.

Specs:

  • Ash body with 2TSB, Heavy Relic finish
  • Maple neck with 9.5” radius, 10/56 V profile and 6105 frets
  • Weight: 7 Ibs 10oz
  • Comes with original tweed hard case, COA, trem arm, back spring cover and the usual Fender case candy nonsense
  • Full specs are in the floor traveller (image below)

Modifications/changes to the original spec:

  • Original strap buttons appear replaced with strap locks (originals not present)
  • Single ply pickguard is a reliced replacement (original not present)
  • Original ‘Fat 50s’ pickups have been upgraded to ‘Cream T custom made single coils’ I presume by Sound Affects as they seem to manufacture Cream T pickups (originals not present)
  • Someone seems to have screwed the string tree down into the headstock slightly too far and it’s just penetrated the reverse of the headstock. I’ve tried to photograph/video this as best I could. It’s the only imperfection I can identify

I’m based in Bishops Stortford on the Herts/Essex border and would greatly prefer collection in person but would be willing to travel to accommodate the right deal. Might be able to post but would need to sort out a box and whatnot.

Asking Price/Trade Value: (£2600) now £2400

Possible trades:

Electrics:

  • Fender CS Telecaster/Broadcaster/Nocaster
  • Gibson ES-330
  • Maybe a Rickenbacker
  • Maybe a Gretsch
  • Anything vintage from the 50s, 60s or maybe early 70s (long shot)

Acoustics:

  • Gibson J160e
  • Gibson Southern Jumbo
  • Gibson LG1 or LG2 (vintage)
  • Martin D28
  • Anything vintage from the 50s, 60s or maybe early 70s (long shot)

Agghhhjh. I missed out on one of these around 2011 and ended up with a black one (that I loved and had for years, only selling it when we had twin boys 11 years ago.) and I’m 10 mins up the road.

Not really looking at spending the cash at the moment and only have a Hahn Tele that might fit the bill. Not really sure I want rid of that though. Agggghhh.

You’d be very welcome to come and give the Strat a play if helpful?! There’s a cup of tea and a Deluxe Reverb waiting for you

Thank you. It’s a really lovely guitar. If I hadn’t picked up my Landau Strat it’d be staying for sure.

If this was just fractionally less reliced it would be perfect...

Can’t agree. I don’t like two tone, but that’s a stunning looking guitar and the relic work is an example of when the custom shop get it right.

Some nice trade options suggested and a couple of near sales so far that haven’t come off. Anyone fancy an amazing CS Strat?

There is one video posted at the top of this thread, but bizarrely for me it’s only visible on mobile and not on desktop for some reason.

links to the videos are here if helpful:

Oh, I see - apologies. The guitar sounds great, but if it’s any consolation you’ll be pleased to not have been subjected to my playing!

That said I’d be happy to do a zoom call or similar and run through some sounds if helpful
