Natural Relics - Let’s see them!

What's Hot
No fakers, only guitars that have been battered from being played allowed!

Here’s my most knackered, 2006 Fender Highway One Telecaster.

I’ve posted this many times but I just love the way the 1970s gold paint has rubbed off in parts and gone green.

And here is its heritage, suffering 20 years’ heavy gigging with Basement Jaxx under the fingers of Simon Ratcliffe.

Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

Here's my old 2007 PRS Singlecut Satin, since sold on to a home where I can still play it when I want. I loved the neck, I loved the weight, I loved the open pore finish, but I could just never click with it - something to do with how it responds acoustically and the attack.

All relicing courtesy of its previous owner, who toured and recorded with it heavily as a fairly busy large-scale local band with some high profile support slots, from what I could gather.

Has to be naturally reliced though

Probably just heavily used in dimly lit environments

I've nothing against reliced finishes but this is all natural wear and tear, though very little done by me  :#

This was pretty heavily gigged when I got it 30 years ago, probably been in more pubs than I have!  I've put some more wear on it since then.

No that's not natural relicing.  Chemicals have been involved in the ageing process....

Here’s my old 1986 Hamer SS1 in fantastic Fuchsia. This guitar sounds monstrous - I sold it last year and the new owner made the same comments.

Cool guitar and I’d love another in the same colour one day when one crops up.

I'm always looking for interesting USA Hamers for sale.

At the moment I'm looking for:
    * Hamer Watson, SS2, Vintage S, T62.
    * Music Man Luke 1, Luke II

    Please drop me a message.

Funny how these don't look much like the reliced new ones very much. I still like a nicely done relic though. Good idea for a thread.

Fender Heavy Relics look ridiculous to me, but I do love what they do to the necks as they feel amazing.

The back of my Jaguar is a sight to behold. I love it.

And the ageing on both my Ric necks please me greatly too.

Here's the body of a Hondo 757 Deluxe from the '80s - I picked up the whole guitar for £40.  I thought the fading was strange as the parts under the pickguard are lighter than the bits exposed to light.  For a 40 year old guitar it has surprisingly few bumps and dents but I don't think it got played much in the last few years.
