Well, I was given a lovely old Selmer Treble and Bass 50 from an old mate of mine, it was unloved and very tired but OMG what a sound ! Took it to Chris
@RiftAmps who did his usual magic giving it a service and fitting a variable bias resistor, new valve bases and replacing tired caps, sprinkling with pixie dust etc . What a sound, I have heard these are are classic “sleeper” amps and I can see why, absolutely roars with a 335 and yet doesn’t make your ears fall off with a Telecaster ! Happy Bunny indeed
all the pics are pre service, it’s a LOt tidier now as you’d expect from Chris

Genuinely loved mine!
I've an old seller tv15 which I documented here

Which reminds me I must get it looked at...
Always made me wonder, where are the old recordings with these classic amps doing their thing?! Guess it was frowned upon and non musical back then....
Literally about my favourite guitar tone is Syd's Esquire into the Selmer on Piper. Angular, clanging and primative, but tonnes of character.
One of mine has been modded with a master volume which helps. I find there's quite a range between where it starts to compress and where it starts clipping. I use it as a pedal platform, there's plenty of bass and low mids if you want them which is something I struggle to get out most guitar-voiced amps. The one on top here still has the original power tubes allegedly
Been using my LA30BL recently which is a lot dirtier, will be interesting to go back to the Selmers. I think a lot of UK amp designs from that era are based on various Bassman circuits, certainly the ones with two bright and two dark inputs
Shiiiiiit.
