    Ah, bollix.

Superb and underrated actor. Can imagine no one else in the roles he made famous.

    RIP

    Elf, Misery, Godfather, Alien Nation.
I went with my father to see Rollerball at the cinema so I must have been 11 or 12. We were told I was too young but my father said it would be okay. I was blown away! One of my all time favourites.
    RIP James.

Excellent actor, and a proper Hollywood star for a while back in the '70s.

Also featured in one of the few - the very few - romcoms I actually like, Honeymoon in Vegas.  RIP.

Also thought Rollerball was a great film, not sure if the film critics like it.

It's a bit funny, but although he was a well-known actor to me, when I look at his filmography I've probably only seen 'The Godfather', 'Silent Movie' and 'A Bridge Too Far'. Never saw 'Rollerball'. I was a bit surprised.

I have a soft spot for those 70s sci-fi films like Rollerball, Westworld, Logan's Run and Silent Running which didn't have amazing effects and were being made for adult audiences. In some ways they represent a golden period in trying to make serious sci-fi before family oriented special effects sci-fi and fantasy films became the norm. Critics were very snobby about that kind of film and they were invariably panned at the time. I haven’t rewatched Rollerball for quite a while so it might not be as good as my memory of it, but I think it’s good!

I loved Rollerball when I was a kid, I think I was 13 or 14 when I got to see it at the pictures and it was epic . . James Caan was excellent in everything he appeared in . . .Yet another sad loss  . . . RIP James
Id just like to point out that, despite all the video and DNA evidence, it genuinely wasn't me, your Honour  !
