Hi all,

I've not posted on here for a very long time so I apologise if this is in the wrong place but I'm just trying to get the word out.

My band (Alpha Male Tea Party) had a huge amount of gear stolen from the back of our hire van last Tuesday (16th Aug) at Northbound London Gateway Services when we were having breakfast at around 10am following a show at Signature Brew the night before.

Bits and pieces of this gear have started to turn up in North London so we'd really appreciate if people around that area could keep a look out in second hand shops/music shops/wherever.

I've lost all three of my Telecasters, including a custom job my dad made me and my daphne blue 2004 Highway One Tele that I bought when I was 15.

If anybody sees or spots anything, I'd be very grateful for any info.

Met police have been pretty useless but the fact that things are showing up seems to be piquing their interest a bit.

Full list and some pics below:

2004 Fender Highway One Tele Daphne Blue (heavily road worn with a maroon/red strap)
2015 Fender Classic Player Triple Tele Black (unusual model with three tele bridge pickups)
Handmade walnut telecaster with Monty's tele pickup set

Fender Mex standard jazz bass black with black scratch plate with house of tone pickups (road worn, missing knob and pretty rusty looking hardware)
70s Rickenbacker 4001 black bass, no pickup cover on the bridge.
Fender Player Plus P-bass Olympic White Forest Green Ernie Ball Strap (found in a market in North London and is currently listed on ebay, police aware)

Ampeg SVT 4 Pro Bass Amp in DV247 ABS rack case
Victory Sheriff 44 (this has been found at Kilburn Road cash converters so Including this as it's possible other stuff will end up in similar place)
Blackheart Little Giant amp head in blue flightcase

Tama Speed Cobra 910 Double Pedal in ABS case
Hardcase full of cymbals (now recovered in N6, left on the side of the road if you can believe that)

Cymatic Audio LP-16 track player on pedaltrain junior board in softcase with Palmer reamp box
2x Shure PSM200 IEM transmitters in ABS flightcase

That's f**king awful to have stuff robbed from you van. Jeez, so sorry to hear that...particularly stuff that you've had for ages and are attached to sentimentally. Not to mention the hassle of getting enough gear again to gig.

    I'd be beside myself....

Some of the stuff may make it down to Brighton, which is where I live. I'll keep an eye out. It may really help to let the folk at Mudpie Music, GAK, Badlands know. Send them a list. Mudpie is just down from the station and is a known secondhand shop.

I wish you luck getting it all back.

re. the pictures - it's better to embed them inline here rather than rely on people clicking on 10 links.

As for "when am I ready?"  You'll never be ready.  It works in reverse, you become ready by doing it.  - pmbomb

  • Thanks for sorting the images out for me, I was struggling to work it out; I got back from a festival last night so my brain was not fully functional.

That's a lot of gear to be removing from a van at a services in broad daylight.  Must be CCTV, surely?

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

Police finally deciding to take an interest and look at CCTV. The service station were beyond useless. We’re the second band to get done like that at that service station, kicking ourselves for not staying by the van.

Wow, disgraceful- with this frequency and such efficient theft it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that staff or security at that Services are responsible or connected

  • The guy who's lost the 5pm stuff informs me that services doesn't have any exterior CCTV, which is nice...

This is the same answer I got, however the Met are involved now so looking into it more. Whether it’ll help, I’ve no idea.

CCTV in this country is a contraction. On the one hand the libertarians complain that we live in overly surveilled public places and that our right to privacy is under threat.

And yet cctv, at least owned by private businesses, is usually poor quality and difficult to access. I think most just see it as a deterrent more than a way of catching the sh*tbags that do this sort of thing.

Service stations should do what what their name implies and offer a stopping point that is safe (and clean!) for all road users.

At my previous job we had a spate of van break ins over night for a while, CCTV clearly showed the culprits (scumbags), Police were given the evidence, never got a single stolen item back, despite them allegedly being aware of the scum, probably to afraid to take it further as they were worried about being dubbed as un PC seeing as how the scum was part of a minority group.
