Doesn't sound any different to me??

Certainly not different enough to warrant any fuss.

  • Can’t see why they bothered; nowt wrong with the original.

The fact it’s seen as something of a novelty song does it a disservice, I reckon.

From what I heard of Kevin Rowland's Radio 6 interview, it wasn't the mix of Come on Eileen they had issues with, just most of the rest of the album. And the record company wouldn't let them spend any more money on it at the time, so they had to release it as it was. So they probably haven't messed with Eileen too much.

Although Eileen must be sick of cleaning up after all this time.
Ten years too late and still getting it wrong

My mum is called Eileen.  It's  fair to say it's not her favourite song.  ;)

sounds better with the volume on 0 - In my top 3 of most hated songs

Get it re-mixed by Quincy Jones and Nile Rodgers - Get Otis Redding to sing it and no doubt I'd still hate it

I love the original version mix, can't hear much difference but I think the bass has more clarity, slight pitch change overall (mixed  / mastered on different tape machine ?)  and whatever thing is playing constant 8th notes is a bit clearer.

It's a nice thing for him to experience though so fair play to him.

When the Too-Rye Aye album came out in 1982 I was eight and it was one of the first albums I got a bit obsessed with! Still enjoy listening to it now. Have to say however that Eileen would be my least favourite song and would usually get skipped..

I agree @Danny1969 ;there's not a huge difference in the mix but if they are happy fair play to them indeed.
