Piano/Keyboard recommendation?

I'm looking to get a secondhand keyboard to stash in the corner at work and dig out for occasional lunchtime practice. 

Needs to be:

1. 88 keys (could live with 76)
2. at least a degree of piano action (weighted)
3. speakers built in
4. Sounds - only really need piano

Any thoughts on what to look for? 

The plan is to spend less than £200 secondhand.

A clavinova is a good choice. I've had one for a long time. Not mine, just a quick eBay search...Not sure its what you want but will certainly cover what you need, with weighted keys

Also Kawai. I'm assuming this has built in speakers....yes it does, 2x12's according to Kawai

My daughter has a roland go, hers is 61 key but they do an 88 version, its a no frills electric piano which certainly to my ears sounds really good.

Lady BMcH started on a Casio, which had a decent key action and sounded perfectly good. I'll see if I can find the model number.

I think it was a CDP-100 or 120.

Thanks for the replies, I should mention that I want something not on a stand (like a clavinova is). I need to be able to prop it out of the way in the corner of the room, and whip it onto a table for practice.

Casio PX-S1000 series is super compact and lightweight. The CDP-S100 is also well rated.

If you can stand the over-excited puppy-act that is 'Jack' on Andertons' YT channel (it's just an act, he's a great keys player), they've got quite a few of great blind-testing videos:



(No Kawais, though, IIRC, because they don't sell them.)

Thanks for that, decent video. I like the presenter, he has the right amount of energy to stay interesting but is full of information, no fluffy wasted time.

Although the Casio sounded least good of the three, the size looks amazing, I think I'll keep my eyes out for one of them so thanks!

It's not weighted, so wouldn't recommend that for a piano like experience.


I'd go for any Yamaha P series you see  up for sale.  They're really good.
