I want to buy something for £80 from GAK with £5 postage

If I spend another £20 then I can have free postage.

What should I buy?

  • Look at the digitech range of pedals, and try something bonkers?

Hot head is 23 quid, if you like ds-1 esque sounds (I prefer it to the ds-1, but it definitely works best into a dirty Marshall).

Or forum favourite, bad monkey. Again, great into a dirty amp.

Buy me a Korg SDD-3000 and I'll give you £20 for it. That's what you meant, right?

For a bit of additional clarity I want to buy an H&K Red Box 5 so any ideas of where I can get one cheaper would also be appreciated.

  • Get the Red Box and strings, patch leads, power supplies, tools, plectrums, etc?

Yeah I was thinking about some patch leads, but I don't think they have any I'd have over the Kabl ones I had my eye on.

Got 2 massive sacks of plectrums, loads of PSUs. Could get some Elixirs I suppose.

  • get one of those KORG Kaoss pad things?
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

    Buy a £20 gift voucher.

On Christmas Eve, use a sharp knife and slice open the wrapping on the present you know to be yours from your wife and insert the vouchers.

On Christmas Day watch her face when you open your present and say "Aw, thanks love. Those vouchers will help me buy (Insert whatever you wish for) from GAK. That's so thoughtful of you !"

You still get your £20 but you get one up on your wife and the more she says "I didn't buy those !", the more you can say "Aw, thanks love, I knew you would support me. It means so much !"

Buy a Bad Monkey if you don't have one.  It's just one of those pedals that even if it lives in a cupboard for years, you'll find a use for it one day.
-- Before you ask, no, I am in no way, shape or form related to Fuzzdog pedals, I was Fuzzdog before Fuzzdog were Fuzzdog.  Unless you want to give me free crap, then I'm related to whatever the hell you like! --

  • Strings. Guaranteed to use them.

    £20 would be well spent...

    Or maybe a posh strap?

I've just sold a Hardwire OD so the Bad Monkey doesn't hold all that much appeal to me.

^ yeah it's kind of like a not quite as good hardwire. hard to fault for the price- but if you've had the hardwire (and sold it) i can't imagine you'd be happy with the BM either.

  • KORG monotron synth. Stylophonetastic they are. You can plug in a guitar and use the filter too.
