2 Questions about leads and a Competition

What's Hot
Tomorrow I have a gig where one band requires 9 Di’s. (I’m using Orchid Micro DI’s and Radial Stage bugs for those who are interested)

All bands are being paid, so the question number one is how many guitar leads should I take. My answer should be 0 professional gig your being paid you should bring two of everything you might need. I’m taking 6

Question 2 , if you are being paid for a gig would you knowingly not take a guitar lead? (For pedants this assumes you need a lead to plug your instrument in)

Competition guess how many guitar leads I have to put out. Bragging rights only to the winner

  • Not sure I’d ever expect the sound crew to supply me with a guitar cable.

Having said that, I’ll guess at 5

Im not kidding but I've actually been asked by a Bruno Mars tribute band if I could supply a bass as they had left it at home. Not sure what happened as it was a dry hire and I just dropped off the PA and wedges and left. I often wonder how they got on because it was a casino gig and no other bands were there.

Have you got a laptop you can use to trigger our wav samples  is another common request.

Question 1 - 9, if you have that many. But keep that to yourself unless specifically asked or any of the musicians bring ones which are obviously flaky.

    Question 2 - 3.

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

  • I'm always tempted to charge £20 per lead, and make it clear it's all going to charity.

I like them - I use 4 orchids (and 4 studiospares active bss copies). For live use they are great, really well made and reliable.

@maltingsaudio - how was the gig?   I can't imagine using more than half di boxes so I'm curious what the line up was that needed 9!      I'm guessing some kind of folk ensemble?

Gig went very well, as it happens they bought all necessary leads although one needed lengthening , @robinbowes naff all to choose between Radial and Orchid except Radial is hotter.
