Free (dead) soldering iron and recommend me a new one

What's Hot

Free to a fret board home- a used once soldering iron.

What's the catch- it's dead. I've had a refund from the seller so it's getting recycled or binned.

I've used it once to solder a guitar lead, put it away and the light doesn't go on when its turned on and it doesn't get hot. Seems very wasteful to bin it, but is in the bin if none wants it.

Any recommendations  for a replacement? this was £35 from Amazon. It's going to get used a few times a year if that.

Thanks!

The catch is that you first need a functioning soldering iron to repair it.

I bought an Antex soldering iron with the slithery cable and have not regretted it. Built several pedals and just finished an amp with it, I really like it.
