  • There's a live version of 'Willie the Pimp' with a solo that builds and yet, as far as I can hear, never repeats the same phrase - for 5-10 minutes! It's very impressive

    I love this solo that Frank did for Grand Funk Railroad. He produced their mid 70s Good singin' good playin' album, and plays a ripping solo on this instrumental from 1min to 2 mins. Frank takes the first solo then Mark Farner does the second.

  • That solo on Muffin Man. The live vid is the one where IIRC he’s he’s rocking a SG. It’s late 70s. Not only is it a great solo but part way through he picks up a bog roll that someone had thrown on stage, and chucks it back into the crowd. It sails off, trailing a few sheets behind it…
