WTB: Maple offcuts

Has anyone got any maple offcuts I could use with a plug cutter to make plugs to fill holes drilled in the wrong place in the heel of a neck?

I've got a few small bits. How big do they need to be (how deep are the holes)?  I think the biggest pieces I've got will be about a couple of inches thick.
I've got a band practice this evening, but will have a quick look in my "bits of wood" box when I get back and let you know. If any of it's any good to you then you're welcome to it if you pay the postage.

That's great!

The max depth of the heel is 18mm + the fingerboard, so anything over 20mm will be great.

I should definitely have some big enough for that. I'll let you know when I've had a look.
How many plugs do you need to make? And do you care which way the grain goes?

I'm making four plugs. I was planning to have the grain go the same way as it is on the heel.. Does that make sense?

OK, so across the end of the plug presumably. From what I remember most of my bits of maple are squareish (offcuts from making violin and mandolin necks) so should be possible to take the plug from the right direction.

Yes, across the end of the plug. It's all hidden when fitted, so cosmetically not important. I just figured it would be stronger that way.
