    Beautiful :).

I thought the thread was going to be about this though... ;)

  • I don't know why but i do love listening to those old classic style songs. In my job as a wedding pianist, it's often the old Disney songs which get me through the awful mix of other stuff people get me doing - A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, Wish Upon a Star, they just fit so beautifully "under the hands" on piano, and often on guitar as well, and strumming the cello gives a great different texture that sounds nicer than acoustic guitar for a similar effect I think

She sounds and looks delightful! Fair enough, it works to an extent, and it looks cool doing the song like that, but the sound of a Cello plucked like that doesn't really compare to a nice acoustic guitar sound. My opinion of course.

First thing that came to mind for me was 2CELLOS:

I thought it sounds quite like an old archtop guitar with flatwounds. (Also sometimes called 'cello guitars'.) A bit deeper and softer, but in the same ballpark.

Heather Nova used a cellist (Nadia Lanman) a lot on her early albums from 1993 onwards, but not playing guitar-type parts.

Roy Wood used one in early ELO. He came up with the idea of playing Hendrix licks on it and thus ELO was born.

The man is a genius but sadly rarely recognised as one.
