    Crikey that's a nice guitar. Good to see some classical guitar on here!

  • Cheers chaps, it is indeed an absolute gem of a guitar and from the Segovia era of instruments which is deemed to be Ramirez's best.

    Gorgeous.  My uncle used to play Ramirez guitars of that period and played for Segovia who apparently commented on his good tone...

  • My first post on this forum - might as well be to say WOW!
    That is a beautiful instrument and I wish I could afford it.

    Would be very interested to hear your experience of selling top end classical on FB and how to do it @danishbacon ;

    Several dealers like Stafford Guitars and Kent Guitars seem no longer to be dealing since epidemic. Although in the case of Kent Guitars I think he's retired. Took it to London Guitar Studio on Duke St in the Spring but they did not offer a sensible price. Have previously sold electrics and acoustics instruments at Gardiner Houlgate Auctions near Bristol but don't really fancy trekking down there again, nor their sizeable commission.

    Actually, I'll make this a thread and ask FB more widely.

    I previously sold a high end classical here, a few years ago, for the same friend that owns the Ramirez. There are buyers out there. Delcamp forum also seems like a decent place/far more specialised than TFB and consequently their FS section is packed full of beautiful classical instruments. It's not unusual to see high end instruments there (high end as in 15K+) and they do sell.

    Reverb might be a good place to advertise this lovely guitar. International exposure like Delcamp. Yes there’s a fee but nowhere near as punitive as an auction house. GLWTS.

    Info only @danishbacon ;;;

    In the spring I sold a top end acoustic down in Brighton at
    UK importer of classical, flamenco, gypsy jazz guitars and guitar strings (guitars-maestosomusic.com) run by Paul Gregory who is a professional player too. He works from his house in North Brighton and was very straightforward and pleasant to deal with.

    We had a very good weekend down there, selling the guitar on the Friday and then having the rest of the w/e looking around Brighton which was fun.

    Prior to visit, Paul was very happy to discuss sale and probable price over the phone and by email after I had sent him some pics and evidence of provenance. He was also willing to discuss selling on commission rather than buying the guitar off you.

    Hope that's helpful. Nice guitar. Lovely graining on the cedar top. Good luck with sale.

    Thank you, I'll look into it - much appreciated. Agreed on the top, it's stunning - the whole guitar is.

  • Wooooaaaah. Nice playing in the vid too. I sold my Kenny Hill on sale-or-return at Wunjo and got a surprisingly good price for it. This is a different ball game though.

    Is there a way you can arrange take it into Royal Academy and or Royal College and let the students have a go? Some of them will be in the market for a concert guitar, which tend to be around £6K. This one will retain its value more than a new one, that’s for sure.
