I know, I know, I know… -1

I’ve had it less than a week, but the neck’s just a bit too skinny, and the weight just a bit too high for me to keep it.

I’m ethically conflicted on how to sell this, as they’re going for stupid money and if I didn’t do the same then the buyer will almost certainly rip-off the next person. Therefore, I’m listing it a certain price, and anything over what I paid plus postage will be donated to charity. Hopefully that’s a happy medium.

I’ll get measurements of the neck and weight asap.

£1,600 posted to mainland UK. (i.e. ~£400 going to charity)

Can you not just return it if you've had it less than a week ? .

  • ^ potentially, I’ve taken the plastics off so that would probably (rightly) give the shop a chance to refuse a return

  • They'll probably take it back, list is as used and sell it for more than they sold it new

  • Lol I did think that too @lovestrat74, and I’ll be checking with them if they’d take it back as a return still sans plastics anyway but I expect they’d just do exactly as you suggested and flip it for more again, hence the dilemma :(

Hard to say to be honest, I'm pretty set for guitars and only bought this one as I've been after a silverburst for years. It would probably have to be something in the gibson-camp though; so set-necks, no trems, shorter scales, and medium/large necks.

*edit* amps or pedals could be an option too though!

    Now pending collection on Tues.

Assuming that all goes through then there’ll be a hefty chunk winging its way to Mind.org in Somerset, and I’ll post proof on here too for the nay-sayers

  • I wouldn't care if you kept the £400, it's Christmas, treat yourself.

    Nice one with charity though.

Great gesture.  Hopefully it won't get flipped to quickly!

I’m fortunate enough not to need it, and I’ve been helped by Mind in the past before too so it’s nice to give back when you can

@Offset - I doubt it will now, the potential profit in flipping’s been cancelled out by this - unless these really do rise to even sillier prices

  • So the AJ is now gone and in the hands of its new owner. Final price was £1,500, and as committed here’s the donation:

Aaaaaand here’s a bonus shot of the AJ sat alongside two of the reasons that I didn’t see the point of keeping it if I didn’t like the neck!

  • Fair play.
Must admit, I watched this thread with a little scepticism but refrained from commenting. My employer sponsors Mind and it’s an excellent organisation that helps people from all walks of life.

you did a good thing, balance has been restored to the universe.

  • This is a nice antidote to the “bedroom dealers pleading poverty then flipping for profit” stories I’ve been reading recently. Win-win.
