Try this next time you make a cuppa - as soon as you've stopped stirring, gently tap the bottom of the mug with the spoon (with the spoon in the liquid) and keep tapping as the spin of the drink slows - never noticed it before and no idea why it does what it does !

That is nothing.  Haven't been feeling myself recently and spent most of the day looking at speakers online.  I got in the shower, washed my hair and thought to myself, just as I was ready to get out, oh, FFS, I have to wash my other head now.

Given 8 hours of concentrated staring at a flickering image, a bit of sleep and food deprivation, I reckon you could convince someone that anything is possible if you tap a cup of tea underneath after stirring it.

16 hours straight and they will be full on tea cup tapping jihadi's.

I'm now all agog about tomorrow morning's cuppa.  Having said that, I feel that way about the first brew of the day anyway!  Tea is an elixir.

Happens while you're stirring instant coffee. As the coffee disolves it changes the pitch upwards. Ive tried it with just hot water (to see if it was to do with heating the mug) and it doesn't happen.

ah - I hadn't realised it was the coffee, I wrongly assumed it was connected with the stirring - just checked with cold water and nothing happened
