Cerumol or heated Olive oil no good,just fills the ear up with more junk

can't make appointment tae see practice nurse for syringing, gotta make an appointment with Doc 1st tae OK appointment with nurse..pppfhhh

I get that sometimes, it's a nightmare. A good syringing does the trick, pity you can't get in sooner. You're right though, off the shelf stuff is useless.

I became 100% deaf in my right ear when I was 13 - it was a nightmare at first but I got used to it pretty soon after it happened.

Yeah I had mine syringed a couple of weeks ago makes a big difference. Also reduced my tinnitus. Don't use cotton buds the fibres stay in your ear and help the wax to build up next to the ear drum rather than fall out of your ear naturally.

I bought an ear syringe cos the docs make you wait like 2 weeks. Just did it today actually as after being on holiday and swimming every day had got pretty blocked up.

Mines blocked on one side completely and half blocked the other side.. Not fun at all and I'm about to get on a ten hour flight back to London

I've tried ear drop wax drops , alcahol based swimmers ear drops and blasting with the shower head but nothing's worked

I need mine sorting by Thursday night as I got a mix gig in London and at the moment I can't even hear my girlfriend talking to me unless she sits the right side

I've had to have my ears syringed twice in the last 9 years ish, I know its a pain, but just get to the docs as soon as you can and get the whole rigmarole over and done with, it's a bloody relief when it's done.

Go to a gym, and alternate between steam room and sauna for an hour, for 3 times over a week. Seemed to clear my ear, no guarantee though!

one thing I've noticed as I age is how much wax my ears now generate. Getting old sucks

Worth trying the doctors as it might be an infection, have had that and it's exceptionally annoying. (Well timed for doing an outreach day, during which I had to do a morning of talks unable to hear myself.)

One of mine got blocked up when I was about 16. Dr gave me drops which had no effect, so I got it syringed a week later. The number and size of the dark wax chunks that came out was really frightening! How the hell did it all fit in there? She did my other side after, which wasn't blocked and hadn't had the drops... and even more stuff came out of that one!

Been ok since then, though I'd love to have them syringed again, just to see what comes out this time.

You can buy a special ear syringe kit to do it yourself.
I'm registered deaf and wear two hearing aids so wax build up is a nightmare.
I actually have to have mine done by my ENT specialist every 3 months but he suggested this kit.
I put a few drops of olive oil in the water to help.
Trust me it works unless the wax is attached to the ear drum.
If its purely in the canal you'll be fine.
