Hi folks - can any of you eagle eyed wood lovers figure out what this beaten up unbranded tele body is made of?

I’ve done a few searches and my best guess at this point wood be pine.

Any help appreciated.

Alder … just not the so-called Premium/Select stuff used in certain American guitars.

Pine would have marked (or torn) differently.

Just needs a few dribbles of paint and a Black & Decker logo.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

Paint?! And hide this stunning grain / wear? You’re out of your mind.

  • Out of interest, what sort of finish are you planning to use?

I’ve an alder Tele body I removed the poly coating from after picking it up cheap because someone attempted a relic job on it and I’m pondering whether to go down the full nitro rattle can route, whether to use a water based approach or even just oil.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the shards of poly kept catching on things I’d have left it as-is, as it was a nice player, but such is life.
