Yes, Mark messaged me about the 2200.

I have one already and perfectly happy with it but looking for the 2100 for the Spinex p-ups and finish.
The arched top makes quite a difference to the acoustic properties of the guitar as well ...

    Interesting.

I have an SA-2000S (), an SA-2200 (recent), and an SG-3000S (original). The 2000 and 3000 have Spinex pickups, I believe (not checked the 2000), while the 2200 has the stock Alnico V humbuckers, which I also like.

I wasn't aware that the 2100 had a different top. Is that compared to the 2200?

Yes, the 2100 has an arched top which gives it a more 'acoustic' sound.

I recently had an SA 800 which also had an arched top and noticed a different unplugged sound. I think the centre wooden strut has an extra layer as well.
Like the 2100 it also had (non-splittable) Spinex but a rosewood fingerboard.
I do prefer the ebony of the 2200 though.

As far as I know the 2000 only came with Alnico V even though the later ones came with the black spinex covers ...

I had a 2100S which had a carved solid spruce top. It still has the centre block, so no feedback, but it was more woody than the cheaper laminate models. Is that the model you are searching for? Mine sounded really great, the solid spruce was a good touch, although I prefer the Alnico V Yamaha pickups (just IMHO). I also prefer the slightly taller frets on the 2200 to the wide/flat profile on the 2100. Collings make occasional custom order semi hollows with a carved spruce top. I was lucky enough to find a used one, and it is fantastic, although four times the price of the superb 2200.

I wasn't aware there was a 2100S model. Here's a screenshot of the SA models from a1986 catalogue:

Typo! it was an SA2000S, oops! Lovely sunburst finish, looked like a vintage Gibson job.

Have you checked Charlie Chandler’s? They had one in recently. Forget the exact model but it was from the ‘80s. Not on the website. Give them a call and check.
