It's a brilliant song. I bought their greatest hits years ago though and just couldn't get into any of the other songs. Love Brad Delp's voice.

I like the backstory where he was working for Polaroid and decided to build a home recording studio which was unheard of at the time, and then started making his own gear which led to him recording the basis of a best selling debut album. He also revolutionised the recording of guitars along the way, while influencing the music of the next decade and beyond, and the song being quite good was the cherry on top.

Brad Delp's voice is great, especially the way he works through the octaves as the song progresses.

And Kurt Cobain famously admitted 'borrowing' the chorus riff of course in Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Look for Rick Beato's analysis of the song on YouTube.

Tom Scholz considers himself first and foremost an engineer, and the music is merely a hobby.

    Some hobby!
