The oldies hated Mozart when he came along too.

  • Broadly speaking, popular music is entirely generational and built to generate as much finance as possible. It’s a business, and the music business is there to make money from a target audience, which in the commercial pop world, is young people. They lure older people with reissues and remasters and special editions, new formats etc.

So it doesn’t really matter how old you are - music is music and some of it will appeal while a lot of it won’t. Its primary function in the commercial world is finance - and business will exploit any potential market to the fullest.
