P90 enclosed cover?

Was going to buy a regular nickel cover but saw this which plays to my love for Firebird pup looks. Does it just mount to the pickup with some solder? Does it change the sound much?

From the sellers description  "We recommend that you have the cover wax-potted onto the pick-up. This will eliminate microphonic feedback which can affect pick-ups that don't have this process. It is not something that can be carried out by anyone and we strongly advise that you have it professionally done."

Saw that. I know the pickups on B&Gs are not potted and just have brass covers hold on screws. Similar to these:

Not doubting Kent Armstrong but B&Gs didn't seem too bad for my needs

A few blobs of hot wax in the cover before pushing the pickup in, or even just some silicone sealant, will work well for preventing a microphone cover. 

It doesn't always need to be the full wax bath for adding a cover

Ah yeah, I'm being dumb and forgetting that P90 are earless. Are these for custom spaced poles then? Interesting

”These no hole P90 covers are being sold by customer request. Without holes, there is no easy way to attach the cover or the pickup to the guitar. Some experimenting will be required.”

I guess if you're really committed to the aesthetics you can mount and seal. Interesting

my guess would be you'd have to make your own flatwork for it, and the lower would be similar to a strat or tele so you can either mount it to the body or under a pickguard/ring

yeah, the only off the shelf guitar these may fit is a SG with scratchplate mounted P-90's.  they are a mix of dogear(ish) base and soapbar cover
