Many of you will have seen my previous thread, but it was at risk of getting overly confusing and messy so here's a new thread...

Having sold a few things recently, I've decided to sell just one of my Patrick James Eggles in order to fund a PJE Macon carved top. I love all three of the following guitars, but I am willing to let one go in pursuit of my goal. To answer a few likely questions from the outset:

1) Trades? No, unless you have a Macon Carved Top you're selling and would consider one of the below in part exchange
2) Postage? I don't currently have any packing and given the value of these guitars I would rather deal face to face, so ideally collection from Nottingham or a meet up somewhere within an hour if it helps

Here's what I'm offering:
  • WITHDRAWN - PJE 96 Droptop - £2450
  • WITHDRAWN - PJE 96 Reverse - £2200
  • SOLD - PJE Macon Junior - £2350

WITHDRAWN - Patrick James Eggle 96 droptop - £2450

Background

In many ways, this is my favourite PJE, and certainly the highest spec (and priced if ordered new), and it's the one I wasn't going to offer, but of the 3 it's the one I have the least sentimental connection with, so here you go.

About the guitar...

This is a very versatile example of the 96 with the HSS pickup layout, it's also particularly gorgeous with its droptop figured maple top. Here's the spec:

BODY – 1 piece swamp ash back with a black grained open pore finish and a highly figured maple top

NECK – roasted figured maple with a soft V profile, Santos Rosewood fretboard with a 12" radius fretboard and Jescar 55090 medium frets

HEADSTOCK – standard heastock with straight string pull and Gotoh PJE branded locking tuners

HARDWARE / ELECTRONICS – MOJO SSH hand wound pickups, with a 5 way selector switch, volume and tone controls (push/push coil split on the tone control for the bridge humbucker)

BRIDGE – ABM knife edge trem with KTS titanium saddles

This is an amazing playing guitar with my favourite of all the PJE neck profiles. The guitar is set up with a low (ish) action and great tuning and intonation.

It comes with:

Original fitted G&G tweed case

Owners card and spec sheet

Allen keys

The original strap buttons will be re-fitted prior to sale

Condition

The guitar is in superb condition with virtually no marks or wear. The high gloss nitro finish to the top will have a few swirly marks when the light catches it, but no dings or scrapes. There is a very tiny little ding on the headstock, but that's really the only mark. I think that the nut is set ever so slightly low - there is a the slightest bit of buzz on the first fret, however, I'm taking the guitar to Patrick next week to get this sorted - otherwise it's very well set up.

    WITHDRAWN - Patrick James Eggle 96 Reverse - 2018 NAMM - £2200

    Background

This is a rather special example of Patrick wonderful take on the Strat, the 96, as this was the model he made for the 2018 NAMM exhibition. In fact, you can view the guitar on the Peach Guitars interview with Patrick by searching ‘Patrick James Eggle at NAMM 2018’  – it appears about 3m30s into the video.

I bought this guitar direct from Peach a few months later.

    About the guitar...

As already mentioned this is a 2018 guitar – well it would have been made in 2017 but specifically for release at the 2018 NAMM event. It’s a 96 which features many of Patricks modern design twists on the well known s-type classic. The spec for this particular model is as follows:

BODY – 1 piece swamp ash with a black grained open pore finish

NECK – roasted figured maple with a shallow C profile, ebony fretboard with a compound radius (12-16) and Jescar 57110 jumbo frets

HEADSTOCK – reverse headstock with straight string pull and Gotoh PJE branded locking tuners

HARDWARE / ELECTRONICS – pair of MOJO hand wound humbuckers, with a 3 way selector switch, volume and tone controls (push/pull coil split on the tone)

BRIDGE – ABM 5200 knife edge trem with KTS titanium saddles

This is a wonderful guitar with a superb range of tones – the humbuckers split extremely well and take you into single coil territory whilst also excelling as full humbuckers offering some quite classic sounds (with judicious use of the volume and tone controls) through to some real rocking / high gain voices.

It’s plays flawlessly and although Patrick describes it as a shallow C neck, don’t let that fool you – there’s a bit of meat to it and it’s not what Jackson/Ibanez players would describe as shallow. It’s more of a flattened version of a full C.

The guitar is set up with a low (ish) action and great tuning and intonation.

    It comes with:

    Original fitted G&G tweed case

    Owners card and spec sheet

    Allen keys

    Original ABM saddles

The original strap buttons will be re-fitted prior to sale

    Condition

The guitar is in superb condition – although I’ve played it regularly in the (nearly) 5 years that I’ve owned it, it has had an easy life of being well cared for. The only real evidence of use are a few tiny indentations on the lower frets (the usual spots) although these have recently been polished and the wear is barely visible, and also some burnishing to the body in places when the matt/satin finish has polished through use to a slight sheen. There is no damage or any dings, marks to mention.

    SOLD - Patrick James Eggle Macon Junior guitar – 2021 - £2400 now £2350

    Background

Here’s uber cool example of the very popular Macon Junior from Patrick James Eggle. I bought this guitar brand new direct from Patrick in 2021, although it was originally made to be a custom order for a dealer in the Netherlands. It comes in a custom colour, Nurburgring Green, and I’ve not seen another one like it.

    About the guitar...

The Macon Junior takes it inspiration from a certain LP Special and it’s just a great rock machine with a very kind of raw feel to it. Of course, coming from PJE’s workshop, this takes a basic design and pushes it to the extremes of quality!

    Here’s the spec

    BODY – Mahogany slab body

NECK – roasted 2A maple with a fat C profile, Santos Rosewood fretboard with a 12” radius and Jescar 55090 medium frets

HARDWARE – Gotoh SD90 vintage tuners and an ABM wrapover bridge

ELECTRONICS – pair of MOJO hand wound pickups, a staple P90 at the neck and humbucker at the bridge, all controlled with a classic 3 way toggle, and pair of volume / pair of tone controls (incl coil split for the humbucker)

FINISH – Nurburgring Green with aged Nitro (note the extensive checking)

I love this guitar – it’s an awesome looking thing which is just lovely to play.

The guitar is set up with a low (ish) action and great tuning and intonation.

    It comes with:

    Original fitted G&G tweed case

    Owners card and spec sheet

    Allen keys

The original strap buttons will be re-fitted prior to sale

    Condition

The guitar is in superb condition – the only real sign of age is manufactured with that aged Nitro formula creating all the checking on the body and headstock. In terms of actual wear, the guitar is like new.
