Now that I've watched the abridged version of MotD, I've started watching DS on 2. Bit before my time but what a great voice. It was Dionne Warwick last week but Dusty knocks her into a cocked hat. There's been some good female vocalists in the last 20 years but few and far between. Most sound like the same generic pap that you get on one of those talent shows of Simon Cowell's. Listen to our entry for the Eurovison for a good example.
So who's your faves?
For me; Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Anne Wilson, Alison Goldfrapp, Kate Bush (lower register), Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Grace Slick, Maggie Bell, Carole King.

Mrs bert was very very good at Dusty and Gladys Knight songs, not bad at Annie Lennox and (alas) Tina Turner
