my daughter has been watching Crystal Maze on one of the re-run channels so I seem to have seen a lot of it in recent months.  Thats a good fail but there are just so many.  Contestants must have be selected for their stupidity.

I remember seeing a contestant trying to use a candle flame to burn through a rope to release a crystal. But, and it's a big but, the candle was on the other side of a wall and the only way round was to go under the wall through a pool of water. Undeterred by the obvious difficulties she attempted to shield the flame from the water by placing a glass bowl over it.....which also suffocated the flame.

There's an interesting blog/essay somewhere online I read a few years ago from a guy that was on it. They only had one or two cameras so the whole thing took ages to shoot. They'd use the camera to see you going into the room from the outside set, then everything would need changing around and setting up to film you getting into the room. So lots of waiting around, getting bored, eating the hospitality food and drink....and then trying to do a logic puzzle!

I read that blog a while back myself.

It seemed crazy how long it took to shoot, but lots of good food !
