As it seems we have a fair few watch fans on this forum...

Have any of you chaps ever sent a watch back to Seiko for repair..and if so, what was their services like?
I have a Sports 100 model from 1988 and it has not worked for years. A watch shop in Stoke reckoned that it needed a new movement which would cost £100..

Is there anyone else worth talking to who fix these model of watches?

Seiko have to go off to a service centre. I had a cracked screen years ago, took it to an H Samuels (wasn't being particularly picky since I knew it would have to be sent off anyway). It sat with them for about six months, with Samuels saying it was a hold up at the service centre whenever I went in. Eventually mentioned trading standards and got it back repaired for free. Was supposed to be about £30.

Any decent watch repairer could fix your watch assuming he can get the parts (if needed). I don't really know how your Stoke bloke said it needs a new movement although obviously that is a much easier job to do.

Seiko are notorious for changing out their movements every 10 years and don't like keeping older parts.

    Good luck.
