  • I find the ear plugs supplied with the 5s perfectly acceptable in general situations but I also have some sennhisers which are a step up.

I think the main problem is that you will never get hifi sound from MP3.  FLAC is much better but takes up a truck load of memory space.

First thing to do with Apple earbuds is to bin them, and get some Sennheisers !

They're EarPods, not earplugs, but in any case they're shite. I highly recommend Shure SE215s. Best in-ears I've ever used.

  • Oh dear... you're new to this then?

These aren't bad if you're not willing to break £50, although you'd be better off ensuring that your phone (and iTunes) is set to use a higher bitrate format than the default iTunes one.

Disagree - the EarPods are actually pretty nice (to my ears)

  • All the in ear buds I try sound great if your at absolutely motionless but as soon as you move the cables seem to transfer every little bump or rustle up to the phones which drives me insane. The apple ones don't do that

You have no idea what you're missing. It's like the music is happening inside your head.

They also have a replaceable cable so last years, unlike the 18 months max you'll get from regular use of a cheapie set.

I like a certain set of HTC ear buds, can't remember the model number but they're less than a fiver on eBay.

My current pair is purple. Ace.

FWIW @Fretmeister was extolling the virtues of a particular set of Soundmagics (E10?) for about £20 earlier in the year.

Wisdom's sticky, I just bought the same ones as I lost my SE110s.

    I love the 215s, they're incredible!

I usually use akg k450's but when I need in ears I use a set of sennheiser cx 300's which I've had for years but still love them! Check them out

Apple does the job at a basic level

Had sennheiser cx 300 me no likey gave them to my daughter who thought she was the coolest kid

Etymotic are cool but pricey but might be nice if Apple up the bitrate.
