Backing tracks for beginners

I'd love to be able to create backing tracks like this.

The groove changes a few times which makes it interesting to jam over.

What kind of software do you think was used to create this?

Garageband drummer and chord loops can be easily used for things like this.  They may be playing the keys via midi,  you can get chord sequencer VSTs though.

Reaper would be a good place to start, although with a drum machine and a keyboard and a 4 channel mixer you could do it in Audacity
