I must have seen dozens of those, but *never* with the extension cabinet…

That’s the reflex port for the speaker. Most cabinets have it at the bottom, I don’t know why Carlsbro chose to put it at the top.

Carlsbro Stingray 100 bass amp. A mainstay of pub gigging bands in the late 70s and early 80s. The head version is probably more common.

A bit of a British Peavey, they were inexpensive and unsophisticated but well-made, reliable and loud. The sound was what it was! Usable, even if not great.

They fell out of favour when Peavey and especially Trace Elliot became available in the 80s - they were more powerful and modern-sounding, and at least slightly smaller, although heavier.

The Carlsbro brand still exists although the amps are all made in China now.

The amp we bought for my wife’s e-drums is a modern Carlsbro. It’s robust enough and sounds good, but there’s a distinct generic feel to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone found the same amp marketed under a different brand name somewhere else in the world.

£232.20 in the Bells Musical Instrument Catalogue presumably from the last few years of the 70s.  It had gone up in price to £347.59 in the Bells 1981/82 catalogue!  Excuse the boxes and arrow drawn on the page.  I scanned the page from my old catalogue and I had ordered the Stingray Lead head and 4 x 12 cabinet.  I crossed out other stuff and wasn't interested in anything to do with bass back then.
