Interesting reading. I come out as Libertarian left of centre (although close to the middle), which surprised me a little, as I would have thought I may be more Libertarian just right of centre.

Interesting that Ed Milliband is considered Authoritarian Right.

Why are there not leaders who are considered Libertarian Right. Is this an unexplored area of politics?

It is just a test.  I've seen it multiple times, some of the questions are basically loaded statements but don't allow discussion or clarification of the alternate position (and I think discussion is important).  And some similar questions are asked multiple ways - you might give an agree one time and a disagree the other based on how you interpret it.

I got fairly libertarian and a bit left of centre.  But it is just a graph and wouldn't predict my response to certain issues.

I'm here- which makes me as close to Ghandi as it doesn't matter.

    Very leftish.

  • This question is quite annoying, because technically you can say 'yes this is possibly true' - but you might wholly disagree with it.  The test doesn't give me an option there.

I came out the same, which is pretty much where I expected it to be.

However, it looks to me like the whole thing was designed by leftist libertarians. Some of the opinions which you'd expect someone rightist/authoritarian to agree with were phrased in a way which made them sound unreasonable IMO.
Though I agreed with my own assessment it still felt biased to me.

I would have scored more right wing if it had asked about the validity of the premium of a Pete Cornish TES v a DD2.

I'm amazed they missed such a fundamental question.

    I know I'm left wing.

I'm so anti public school and private health it's untrue.

If I was doing this for work - left wing libertarian. If I was doing this after an argument with my Romanian neighbours, well, not sure the graph is big enough...

Probably just as well I'm not in politics.

I did this fairly recently and was surprised that I was pretty much economic centre and libertarian. I would have expected to be in the middle of the purple square.

It's interesting to see that governments tend to spread along the north-east-running diagonal. To me it seems sensible that someone who is in favour of economic state interference (left) would also be in favour of social state interference (top) and vice versa. I guess every government has the same amount of interference that they have to impose and it's just a matter of where they chuck it. Presumably the bottom-right section is more no-government-at-all so it makes sense that there haven't been any examples of it.

Edit: Yes, there....just where Drew put his. That's a bit worrying.

I don't mind public schools or private health. If people want to pay taxes and then pay for private services out of their own pocket then let them. The public school argument is flawed anyway. If public schools were scrapped the government would have to find billions of pounds to educate kids whose parents were happy to pick up the bills. I say let them pay ..

A similar argument for the NHS .. a lot of private work revolves around certain treatments the NHS doesn't want to fund like cosmetic surgery. Private companies should be kept out of the NHS.

MY view is that all that money should go into the state system via taxes.

Then, once you've raised taxes too, you put in the best state education to degree level possible.

Then you break down a class barrier and encourage meritocracy.

Sadly, I am aware of the pragmatic difficulties my theory presents.

I'm still waiting for the revolution, trouble is there's always some power-crazed, egotistical, self promoting wanker who'd fucks the whole thing up. Stalin springs to mind.
