    Unfortunately, as the test doesn't include the " I don't give a rat's arse" option, it's flawed.

  • To me education is key and giving people a sense of worth and giving people the opportunity to rise.
We all need something in our sights to strive for. This how we have grown from cave man to where we are now
    flying to mars and beyond.
If everything went to the state you would have other people controlling what is rightfully yours and that means politicians.

My own personal view is we only need 5 sectors of central government.

    a) Education
    b) Health
    c) Infrastructure (roads/energy/waste)
    d) Defence
    e) Law

Everything else should be dealt with locally

People need pride, a sense of self achievement and freedom.

In some ways the US has it right in their philosophy, i.e. anybody can achieve greatness, but they do lack
    the social responsibility.
We in the UK have lost our sense of Pride, just think what the Victorians achieved, massive home building schemes, the railways (I know we robbed India and Africa to do it)

Slap bang in the middle of the green square, slightly more libertarian than Ghandi. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

  • I think on the whole the UK/Europe is becoming more libertarian and everybody else will follow, when they do (and it will take time and the abolition of dictatorships and organised religion), the world will be a much better place

As cave men, we spent our time, hunting, foraging and fucking. Now we spend our time typing.

See, I did an interview with the (American) drummer from Less Than Jake last year and coming from the US perspective he felt that the UK and Europe were becoming LESS libertarian while the States were, in his words, "busting out a lot of state control to what used to be federal-controlled; the lunatics run fuckin' wild!". Interesting how it looks different from different sides.

(It's here, as a cheap plug for one of the sites I write for: http://www.themidlandsrocks.com/interview-with-vinnie-fiorello-mostly-of-less-than-jake/)

Near Ghandi in political opinion? Hmm. Apparently a little more libertarian than the Dalai Lama.

And yet I'd prefer a world where punching someone for being rude was permitted?!

Ghandi was a dickhead. No measure of ethics whatsoever.

I thought that Ben Kingsley was excellent and the crowd scene at the funeral was fantastical.
