I don't remember John in the Kinks but he ran a local music shop where I grew and facilitated my early guitar purchases.

Rip. I also new John from the music shop in Berkhampsted. I bought lots of piano sheet music from him a child, and he showed me how to change a string on the electric guitar I was loaned (as I had no idea). He’d usually be playing Kinks songs on the keyboard when you walked in!
