Not sure whether I'm more impressed with the end result, the speed of the install, or the fact you managed to keep the missus from interfering! Well done, anyway!

Well done Chilli, you've given Emp another excuse for not getting things done (the missus interfering)

  •  When the native Linux port of Reaper comes along, that may change...I'll see if there are any decent interfaces out there if/when that happens.

Have they actually committed to a Linux port? That sounds pretty interesting if so.

Also well jealous of your soldano!

  • Thanks all :) You have to bear in mind that I mostly work from home, so this is where I spend the majority of my time. I didn't realise how much it was driving me insane, but now that I have a carpet in here I actually feel more "normal".

I face the same dilemma..I know that a 2.3m kitchen worktop is the answer, but I keep thinking there is something better out there .
This is my problem - nobody out there seems to do work surfaces or just plain ol' lengths of wood at more than 2.4m, but I need 2.7m for the screw-it-to-the-wall plan to work. Really not keen on the idea of making legs for it - I want something that has no direct footprint on the floor.

They're talking about it on the Reaper forums in far more optimistic terms, if that counts ;)

Looking good, but don't you find the arm rests on the chair a pain when guitaring?
Always be yourself! Unless you can be Batman, in which case always be Batman.
My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

I managed to acquire an old office-style corner desk which works really well.

It's sort of a corner style desk (I'd take a photo but it's embarrassingly piled high with general crap atm, perhaps that should be my afternoon project).  The legs are only at each corner, so don't get in the way of anything.

There are shops/dealers that specialise in that sort of thing, though I got mine direct "from source" a few years ago.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

You can get a 3m ( 40mm) worktop quite easily from Wicks / B&Q / internet, but yes at 2.7m long you would need one chrome leg in the middle I guess, unless you can support it on a couple of cabinets , one each end, bit like you have now really..

Failing that, just get some floorboards and make something out of that.

"Decide you're going to do a job, and just get it done."

I am genuinely inspired. I'll remember this simple mantra when I'm close to sacking off my studies.

Other than that, top job on the studio. Very admirable.
