Clunky Chrome?? and FUZZ

Who else has recently logged on to find that the text in Google Chrome has gone all fuzzy and that the tabs are now enormous?

I am on vrs 38 and after my system crashed whilst in hibernation and then auto updating everything - even though I turn this OFF -  I was faced with Micky-Mouse interface in my browser...

Checked all the forums and regedits and can't get it to look haflf decent or readable...

I think they did an update today, which I declined. Still looks OK here
