I find it very hard to believe that was an accident. ;)

    I'm not always sure.

I was worried I had done the neck angle too low,  and when I strung it its at 1.5mm with the bridge decked... but thankfully I have some extra height on the chunky saddles to get it lower than that if needed.  Although that's probably where I would set it anyway

    It's sounding good too.

I just wired it up, which was nice and easy since everything is earthed via the plate.

Just a switch cavity and jack plate to make out of aluminium.  I also need to make a new nut as this one is a spare I just have shimmed in place for now.

I think I'm going to do a little bit of ageing on it all too... not too much though.

After 10 months, its finally done other than a few final set-up bits

I've added a little age to the nickel parts a few chips to the finish and its starting to craze nicely.  the rest of the metal has been left pretty shiny if its chrome, or left with a dull sheen if its aluminium.  I like the variety of metal colours and patinas, and think it ties in nicely with the originals.

Weight is a smidge over 8lbs

  • Phwoor.  I really like that.
Did you make the bridge?  It sort of reminds me of a (much) less amateurish version of my "13A plug saddles" one.

Yes, I made the bridge years ago for my first attempt

Really fantastic looking. How does it sound? Like a brighter Les Paul?

Yeah, it's definitely in the Gibson camp.  For me it's probably halfway between SG and LP.

The aluminium plates don't really do much to the tone... but it is very well shielded against noise D

That's awesome. The sunburst on the back goes really nicely with it too!

What a fantastic build Wez.   Ive been off the forum for ages and this was a real treat to read through.   Great to see a zematis influence and then evolving into something really special.
    Inspiring work as ever !
